Relationships Between Project Cost, Project Team Member Role, Project Schedule, And Burnout, Alan Lee Bundschuh
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Employees affected by burnout syndrome often experience reduced engagement and decreased
job performance, costing their organizations through lost productivity and profit. However, it is
not clear what causes employee burnout in working environments. The purpose of this
correlation study was to examine the relationships between project cost, project team member
role, project schedule, and project team member burnout. This study was grounded in the job
demands-resources theory, which states that all employees experience demands in their work that
may lead to long-term stress and eventually burnout syndrome if these demands are not mitigated
by job resources. The population for this …

The Impact Of Authentic Leadership Development On Safety Climate Change, Victoria Hoyt
The Impact Of Authentic Leadership Development On Safety Climate Change, Victoria Hoyt
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Tragic, life-changing, and fatal incidents are a reality on large-scale, civil construction projects. Despite a decline following the enforcement of the 1971 Occupational Safety and Health Act, serious and fatal incidents on heavy construction projects remain higher than that of the active military and have not declined in any notable way in the past decade. Industrial-organizational literature suggested a lack of applied testing for the well-developed theory of authentic leadership (AL) to impact safety outcomes. This quasi-experiment combined the constructs of authentic leadership with safety climate perception as quantifiable measurement of potential safety outcomes in the workplace. The research question …

Strategies Of Successful Government It Projects Based On Cost And Time, Ullice John Pelican
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
From 2001 through 2015, some information technology (IT) project managers failed to deliver U.S. Government IT projects on time and within budget. The failure of IT project managers to complete projects on time and within budget provoked the U.S. Government Accountability Office to classify IT projects as high risk. This multiple case study explored strategies government contracted IT project managers use to reduce cost overruns and improve on-time delivery. The participants in this study were government contracted IT project managers from organizations that provide IT project management in the Maryland area. Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Large-scale transformational change, such as the integration and acceptance of gays in the U.S. military, necessitates a long-term effort by management to mitigate unanticipated consequences. Suboptimal implementation may not account for damaging consequences among individuals expected to live the change. How Naturalized African-Americans Experience Racial Microaggressions In U.S. Federal Agencies, Casimir Yem Bilong
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The Civil Rights Act was enacted more than 5 decades ago, and its provisions forbade discrimination on the basis of race in hiring, promoting, and firing. Yet some researchers argue that racial discrimination issues are still prevalent in the United States. They contend that modern racial discrimination is more covert and takes the form of racial microaggressions, which are subtle conscious or unconscious insults and derogatory attitudes directed towards minorities. Researchers have not fully addressed the prevalence of racial microaggressions in U.S. workplaces, however. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of naturalized African-Americans …

The purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional study was to examine the generational perceptions of SBA employees regarding leadership satisfaction and intent to leave the organization within the next year. Strauss and Howe's generational theory served as the theoretical framework. This non-experimental quantitative study used the …

Leaders need to understand contributing factors to the attrition of virtual workers. The foundation for this research included theories of employee retention and change management. The research question for this qualitative phenomenological study focused on the lived experiences of current or former virtual financial services workers regarding job retention. Participants were chosen using purposeful …
