Fraud Mitigation By Embodying Maqashid Sharia Values And Islamic Work Ethics, Farah Nurani Qorny, Sugiyarti Fatma Laela, Ahmad Levi Fachrul Avivy
Jurnal Akuntansi dan Keuangan Indonesia
This research examines how the fraud square influences fraud, and investigates whether implementing tahdzib al-fard (educating individuals), part of Maqashid Sharia values, and Islamic Work Ethics (IWE), can reduce employee involvement in fraud. The study uses a quantitative approach with questionnaires for data collection, with 257 civil servants in Banten Province agencies, Indonesia, as study samples. The data were further tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The study reveals that pressure, opportunity and rationalization have a positive relationship with fraud, while integrity has no impact on fraud deterrence. Tahdzib al-fard significantly influences employee perceptions and attitudes towards dealing …

ASEAN Marketing Journal
Consumer empowerment in Indonesia remains relatively low, particularly for individuals with disabilities. This study investigates the roles of accessibility, self-esteem, and information access in empowering disabled consumers. A total of 100 participants with physical disabilities, aged 17 and older, were surveyed regarding their online and offline purchasing experiences. Data were collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed using SEM PLS. Results indicate that self-esteem and information accessibility significantly influence the empowerment of consumers with disabilities, with the Disabled Consumer Empowerment Index categorized as "not empowered." Notably, the knowledge dimension received the lowest scores based on a traffic-light system. These findings …

Efisiensi Biaya Dalam Perawatan Stroke Non-Hemoragik: Studi Kasus Di Rumah Sakit Islam Sunan Kudus, Chusnul Mubarok, Chriswardani Suryawati, Puji Harto
Jurnal Ekonomi Kesehatan Indonesia
Stroke is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality globally, with over 12 million new cases each year. In Indonesia, the prevalence of stroke increased from 8.3% in 2007 to 12.1% in 2013, with the age group of 55-64 years recording the highest prevalence. This study aims to analyse the actual costs of non-hemorrhagic stroke care for patients under the National Health Insurance (JKN) at the Islamic Hospital of Sunan Kudus using the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) method. A descriptive quantitative method was applied, collecting data from hospitalised non-hemorrhagic stroke patients during 2023. The results showed a discrepancy between …
Refereed Research: A Sufficientarian Approach To Consumption Ethics In The Face Of Climate Change, Srinivas Venugopal, Ronika Chakrabarti
Refereed Research: A Sufficientarian Approach To Consumption Ethics In The Face Of Climate Change, Srinivas Venugopal, Ronika Chakrabarti
Subsistence Marketplaces
In this paper, we adopt a sufficientarian ethics approach to study the concern of consumption inadequacy engendered by climate change in subsistence communities. The sufficientarian approach to consumption ethics dictates that in the face of climate change, priority should be afforded to establishing and maintaining consumption adequacy in low-income settings. We elaborate on the basic principles underlying sufficientarian ethics and compare it to alternative approaches such as utilitarian ethics and prioritarian ethics. Subsequently, we turn our attention toward specifying how poverty and the deleterious impact of climate change combine to render subsistence communities more vulnerable to consumption inadequacies as compared …

Analytical Study On The Intensity Of Surface Urban Heat Island (Suhi) In Kaduna State, Paul Onibaba, Kolade Victor Otokiti, Oluwabukola Grace Ademola, Temitope Mercy Akanle
CSID Journal of Infrastructure Development
Urbanization and climate change are significant drivers of rising Land Surface Temperature (LST) and the formation of Urban Heat Islands (UHIs), which have emerged as pressing environmental challenges in recent decades. This study examines the relationship between Land Use/Cover (LU/C) indices and LST in Kaduna, Nigeria, using multi-temporal Landsat imagery spanning five periods from 2001 to 2021. LST values were derived from the Landsat thermal bands, while LU/C dynamics were identified using the Maximum Likelihood Classifier algorithm. LU/C indices—including the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI), Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI), and Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index …
Digital Twin And Cybersecurity In Additive Manufacturing, Lidong Wang
Digital Twin And Cybersecurity In Additive Manufacturing, Lidong Wang
Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice
Additive manufacturing (AM) has been applied to automotive, aerospace, medical sectors, etc., but there are still challenges such as parts’ porosity, cracks, surface roughness, intrinsic anisotropy, and residual stress because of the high level of thermal gradient. It is significant to conduct the modeling and simulation of the AM process and achieve quality products. Digital Twin (DT) can help AM with forecasting defects/errors through simulation and real-time process monitoring. DT is a concept of Industry 4.0, and its digital structure reflects the real-time behaviors of a cyber-physical or physical system. This paper introduces the progress of DT applications in AM, …

Journal of Multicultural Affairs
Youth in traditionally marginalized communities are often the target of policies and practices without the opportunity to provide input. This article highlights effective strategies to empower youth to become active participants in their communities. Using a Youth Participatory Empowerment Model (YPEM), youth participants from six demographically distinct communities engaged in YPEM-supported activities and strategies to identify and address a need within their community. To gain insight into successful strategies, qualitative data from pre and post implementation focus group interviews and observational field notes informed the conclusions. The participant youth represent tribal, undocumented, rural, suburban, and urban youth from underserved populations. …

Lack Of Women In Federal Level Politics In The United States, Ellie E. Romans Draper
Journal of Nonprofit Innovation
This paper explores the enduring underrepresentation of women in U.S. federal politics, analyzing historical exclusions and contemporary challenges. It identifies that, despite women constituting 50.5% of the population, they held only 28% of Congressional seats in 2023. The study assesses barriers such as the scarcity of female role models, inadequate support, and entrenched societal expectations that discourage political participation. Key findings suggest that these factors not only restrict women's entry and progression in politics but also affect democratic integrity and policy inclusivity. It highlights the organization She Should Run, which encourages women from diverse backgrounds to pursue political office, providing …

Repurposing The Land Of An East Los Angeles Church: The Discovery Of How Small And Medium Sized Churches Through Affordable Housing Can Combat Homelessness While Revitalizing Its Nonprofit Status, Donald Cook, Donald Ray Cook Ii
Doctor of Ministry Projects and Theses
In order to live, humans need to sleep; therefore, sleep is mandatory, but unfortunately, everyone does not have the option of sleeping inside. Subsequently, many homeless encampments have developed in many countries. The perspective that people have often determines their response to homelessness. One person might view a homeless encampment as a problem that needs to be removed while someone else can view it as an opportunity to serve the least of these. Not only did Adam and Eve experience homelessness when removed from the Garden of Eden, but Mary, Joseph, and Jesus experienced first-hand the rollercoaster of inadequate housing. …
