A Computer Simulation Analysis Of The Usaf Vehicle Allowance/ Authorization Process, Charles T. Butler Sep 1991

A Computer Simulation Analysis Of The Usaf Vehicle Allowance/ Authorization Process, Charles T. Butler

Theses and Dissertations

This research examined the effects of the incorporation of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) on the USAF vehicle allowance/authorization process. The study utilized a computer simulation model to mimic the flow of the AF form 601, Equipment Action Request, as it is submitted at base level and coordinated through the MAJCOM and WR-ALC. The hypothesis was that the allowance/authorization cycle time could be made shorter by transmitting the information contained on the form 601 electronically, rather than mailing the form to each coordinating agency. In order to compare the process with and without the use of EDI, two computer simulation models …

A Study Into The Feasibility Of Establishing A System For The Buy-Back Of Salmon Fishing Authorisations And Related Endorsements., P. J. Monaghan Aug 1991

A Study Into The Feasibility Of Establishing A System For The Buy-Back Of Salmon Fishing Authorisations And Related Endorsements., P. J. Monaghan

Fisheries Management Papers

A buy-back system for the buy-back of under performing salmon authorisations is suggested as the most cost effective method of reducing the number of salmon fishing units. It could be of benefit to commercial salmon fishermen and could be achieved at relatively modest cost. The alternative of implementing a buy-back system of interest to all salmon authorisation holders could be extraordinary expensive as salmon fishermen place a high value on lifestyle.

Monitoring And Controlling Mastitis On Ontario Dairy Farms, Wayne H. Howard, Ravinderpal Gill, Kenneth E. Leslie, Kerry Lissemore Jul 1991

Monitoring And Controlling Mastitis On Ontario Dairy Farms, Wayne H. Howard, Ravinderpal Gill, Kenneth E. Leslie, Kerry Lissemore

Agribusiness

The frequency of use and the marginal costs and marginal value products of mastitis control practices on somatic cell count (SCC) and milk yield are investigated. A survey of current management practices is combined with Dairy Herd Improvement production information to determine the relationships between milk yield, SCC, management practices, and production and producer characteristics under field conditions. The relationships are modeled and compared at the cow and herd level. A moment-generating approach is used in the herd model to determine which, if any, practices are risk reducing. The SCC for an individual cow is a better indicator of milk …

A Discussion Of Options For Effort Reduction., Southern Demersal Gillnet And Demersal Longline Fishery Management Advisory Committe

Fisheries Management Papers

The committee prefers to reduce effort in the fishery by improving the effectiveness of the 50 per cent reduction on transfer rule. To do this it is necessary to prevent the use of lease arrangements which act as a form of transfer. Some consideration could also be given to encouraging transfer of licences by protecting purchased units against further effort reductions. The Minister for Fisheries has determined that ownership statement must be completed prior to licence renewal each year. It is hoped that this will prevent licence holders from using lease arrangements to effect transfers and so avoid the loss of …

Inventory Ordering Decisions Over The Product Life Cycle, Matthew J. Seiler Apr 1991

Inventory Ordering Decisions Over The Product Life Cycle, Matthew J. Seiler

Honors Theses

This report will link two key business concepts together. It will first examine the characteristics of different inventory replenishment systems used by purchasing managers. Second, it will bring the marketing phenomenon of the product life cycle into the picture. The varying demand patterns found in a typical product life cycle curve will become test data for a simulation exercise to determine which of four ordering models yield the lowest combination of holding and ordering costs. The costs related to holding finished good inventories account for a large portion of a firm's total cost structure (Adam and Ebert, 1989). To stay …

Accounting And Controls In The Second Temple, Kevin Nathan Mar 1991

Accounting And Controls In The Second Temple, Kevin Nathan

Accounting Historians Notebook

The Second Temple, which stood in Jerusalem from around 520 B.C.E. to 70 C.E., is known to many in its role as a religious institution. The Bible describes, in Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers, the Jewish sacrificial system and its laws. In Kings it describes the building of the First Temple, and in Ezra and Nehemiah the building of the Second Temple. No primary records have survived concerning the operation of the temple. Therefore, for a detailed description of the Temple's operation and financing it is necessary to examine the Mishnah.

Discovery Of Selected Water Dispensers By Newborn Pigs, P. A. Phillips, D. Fraser

Housing and Confinement of Farm Animals Collection

Newborn pigs in 86 litters were offered drinking water from four types of dispenser to determine how quickly each design would be discovered. On average piglets discovered water within about 24 h from an exposed water surface (bowl or cup), whereas discovery time was delayed to more than 72 h with nipple or push-lever dispensers. A prototype dispenser with a wide bowl and continuous bubbling action reduced (P < 0.05) average discovery time to about 14 h.

Bulletin No 4189 - Training And Care Of The Sheep-Dog, John Charlick, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia

Bulletins 4000 -

A well trained sheep-dog is a considerable asset to a farmer — in a recent Queensland Department of Primary Industries study, participating graziers estimated the value of a good working dog to be up to $20,000 a year.

Despite their value, dogs can be maintained cheaply. The Queensland study quoted $130 a year as the most any grazier spent on an individual dog — for dry food, vaccine and treatments for internal and external parasites.

This Bulletin aims to show how to train a sheep-dog from a raw pup to a highly useful and well trained, mature dog. The methods …
