Changes In Cultural Phases Of Ancient And Modern Mexico, Mary Harmacek

Bachelors’ Theses

This is a thesis on Mexico, Mexicans and the changes in ancient and modern cultural phases that have developed there since the Spanish conquest. It is the result or careful study of the works of authentic writers, backed by three summer seasons in attendance at the National University of Mexico and accented by close contact with members or all classes of inhabitants over quite a large portion of the country. In gathering the material based on personal contact I was aided by leaders in education, especially history, archeology, science and art; I was also aided by two local representatives of …

Each publication had its own particular editorial policy, reader class and methods of approach; and accordingly the international problems of the period were treated differently by them.

The Significance Of The Thirty Years War, Robert E. Dobyns May 1935

The Significance Of The Thirty Years War, Robert E. Dobyns

Bachelors’ Theses

The great European conflict from which the following thesis derives its title had a complicated origin, an unprecedented range, and far reaching consequences. The story of its origin reaches back into a period before the actual occasion of the conflict. Whether The Thirty Years War can be regarded as a war for political supremacy or as the inevitable result of deep seated religious differences not to be settled by ambiguous parchment compromises.- or finally as the cautiously prepared opportunity and still more cautiously allowed to mature by the farsightedness of France. We do know that the war gradually absorbed into …

The Indians Of The Great Plains 1861-1876, Alice Caroline Wallner Apr 1935

The Indians Of The Great Plains 1861-1876, Alice Caroline Wallner

Bachelors’ Theses

The Great Plains, in 1840 appeared to those living in the Eastern part of the country.as a forbidden land which man was never to occupy. This land was barren except for the roaming Indian tribes, a few trappers and hardy frontiersmen who moved West. In log homes near Santa Fe some of the braver families had settled; a few forts had been constructed for trade with the Indian and for protection. Other than the early settlers mentioned, none ventured beyond the Missouri river, and the Great Plains were barren, wind-swept lands, later to be conquered and settled.

The Black Prince In France, Walter Charles Kitzerow Apr 1935

The Black Prince In France, Walter Charles Kitzerow

Bachelors’ Theses

When in 1337 the One Hundred Years' War no longer contented itself with casting dark shadows before, but actually reached its inception, he who was to become the most prominent figure in the conflict was, as yet, a lad of only eight years. Very likely no one but the boy himself, later to become known as the Black Prince, entertained the thought that he would play a conspicuous part in the struggle.

He practically rearranged all the boundaries of his own country, and did a great deal toward bring about the many changes found in his neighbors. He was without any question the predominating power of Europe throughout his entire reign.
