The Independence Of The Early Irish Church, P. E. Kretzmann
The Independence Of The Early Irish Church, P. E. Kretzmann
Concordia Theological Monthly
In the annals of the past one frequently finds a twilight zone, where tradition and history meet, where fact must be distinguished from fancy and mythical accretion. It is rather challenging and intriguing to evaluate both secondary and primary sources in the effort to determine just which points may be regarded as the nuclear truth. In the history of the Apostles, for example, only that is acceptable without question which we find in the New Testament. With regard to later accounts and church tradition we must exercise great care to separate truth from legend. Thus we may, from the apocryphal …

Henry Viii And The Smalcaldic League, George Hoyer
Henry Viii And The Smalcaldic League, George Hoyer
Bachelor of Divinity
This paper aims to show that in all Henry VIII's dealings with the Protestant League he was motivated entirely by aims of Tudor policy. His object was to extend the scope of absolutism within his own realm, and also to preserve his dynasty in security on the throne of England, and in the end, to preserve for himself all the power and privilege which he discovered he controlled after a long reign of pursuing the first two objects. Wherever religious negotiation enters, it ls a motive of policy and not of conviction that governs Henry.
The Doctrine Of The Holy Ghost According To St Paul, Edward Saleska
The Doctrine Of The Holy Ghost According To St Paul, Edward Saleska
Bachelor of Divinity
The doctrine or the Holy Spirit is fundamental in Christian teaching. The Holy Spirit’s ministry is intimately bound up in the doctrine of the Trinity and is an all-important factor in the life of the Christian. It makes all the difference in the world as to what a man believes regarding the Holy Ghost and whether or not he has an intelligent understanding of what the Spirit is ready to do for him in his life.

Huldreich Zwingli, The Father Of Reformed Theology, Theo. Dierks
Concordia Theological Monthly
Huldreich Zwingli (born January 1, 1484, died October 11, 1531) has often been called the forerunner of Calvin; but as Ritschl, Dogmengeschichte des Protestantismus, III:27, point. out, Zwingli is the "real author of the Reformed confession and, together with Bucer, the founder of Reformed theology." It was Bucer who formed the connecting link between Zwingli and Calvin.
