The Originality Of Fredrick Jackson Turner As An Historian And Teacher, Norman Gale Lamprey Aug 1965

The Originality Of Fredrick Jackson Turner As An Historian And Teacher, Norman Gale Lamprey

Graduate Student Research Papers

The originality of Frederick Jackson Turner can be recognized against a background consisting of evidence of his contributions to the two fields, history and teaching. This concept will be described and two subordinate facets of his thesis will be examined briefly. The teaching aspects of Turner's career will be illuminated by analyzing the inseparable historian-teacher relationship and, in addition, the quality and lasting effects of his influence will be treated. It is not the …

The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought

in this issue. . .

TURNABOUT is not only fair play but very nearly a modus operandi in the annals of this journal. Last January when she brought out the winter issue of THE MIDWEST QUARTERLY as its acting editor-in-chief, Rebecca Patterson modestly and cleverly announced that that issue belonged to the then absent editor. Rather wistfully she wrote then of time off, rest, re-creation, and of the human need for "that holiday of the spirit that comes with putting the old routine behind . . . and sallying into fresh fields, . . ." Now in June she has …

The Ecumenical Century And The Parish, Alvin N. Rogness Jun 1965

The Ecumenical Century And The Parish, Alvin N. Rogness

Concordia Theological Monthly

I am not audacious enough to think that I can say anything new or solve any of the many problems which our day enforces upon us. I hope I may call into focus some of the issues that face us now and others that assuredly will be upon us in acute shape in the years ahead. At the outset I want in all candor to say that I am more terrified than exhilarated by the ministry which my son and his generation must face in the next 40 years. And it follows that I must confess that I have no …
