Background: Preformulation studies have a significant role in anticipating formulation problems and identifying logical paths in dosage form technology.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the preformulation criteria of the aquatic ethanol extract of Kigelia africana fruit as topical antibacterial therapy.

Methods: The preformulation parameters of the extract were evaluated by testing its organoleptic characteristics, melting point, pH, spectroscopic assay, stability, solubility, and partition coefficient.

Results: The study demonstrated that the extract possessed satisfactory organoleptic properties, a melting point of 195.3–198.0 °C, a pH of 6.26, chemical stability under acidic conditions, photostability, higher solubility in basic conditions and in the …

The worldwide Jewish community is notoriously nomadic because of persecution and displacement through several millennia. The diasporic experience of global Jewish communities led to traumatic events such as historical expulsion and genocide. These experiences embody all five components of occupational injustice. The recent rise in antisemitism has triggered intergenerational trauma among individuals, families, and communities. This paper, grounded in trauma-based research, aims to guide occupational therapists treating Jewish clients and/or teaching Jewish students. Background: Breast cancer is the leading cause of female cancer worldwide, which can lead to many negative sequelae, with up to a third of women developing breast cancer-related lymphedema. Breast cancer-related lymphedema requires chronic maintenance and is associated with worse physical and mental health outcomes compared to women without lymphedema. Occupational therapists are well-positioned to address the complex needs of women with breast cancer-related lymphedema. Alterations in mitochondrial function are the linchpin in numerous disease states including in the development of chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain (CIPN), a major dose-limiting toxicity of widely used chemotherapeutic cytotoxins. In CIPN, mitochondrial dysfunction is characterized by deficits in mitochondrial bioenergetics (e.g., decreased ATP production) that are thought to drive the degeneration of the peripheral nerve sensory axon terminal sensory arbors in the skin (the intraepidermal nerve fibers; IENFs) and induce abnormal spontaneous discharge in peripheral nerve sensory axons. In this study, I recounted my experience using mantra meditation during a phenomenological study for the purposes of bracketing. The efficacy and purpose of bracketing have been debated from Husserl (1931), whose aimed was to achieve objectivity, to Heidegger (1962) who advocated for immersion of the researcher, through the French school (Merleau-Ponty, 1964) of middle ground, by whom bracketing was seen as the process to unearth and suspend biases for the better understanding of participants’ experiences (Arsel, 2017; Creswell & Creswell, 2017; Creswell & Poth, 2016; Fischer & Guzel, 2023). Background: Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common malignancies in women, characterized by the malignant proliferation of breast epithelial cells that significantly impairs patients’ quality of life. Astaxanthin (ASN), a marine-derived xanthophyll carotenoid, is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Emerging evidence suggests that ASN may exert anti-neoplastic effects by inhibiting tumorigenesis and suppressing the growth and progression of BC cells. This systematic review aims to critically evaluate the therapeutic potential of ASN as a pharmacological agent in the prevention and management of breast cancer.

Introduction: The annual prevalence of elder mistreatment (EM) in cognitively intact older adults is estimated to be 11%, yet the annual prevalence in older adults with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) is estimated to be as high as 75%. Associated with a decrease in quality of life and increase in risk of mortality, EM represents a significant public health burden. This study presents research about the nature and prevalence of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), the mental and physical impacts to individuals exposed to ACEs, and incorporating mindfulness practices into therapeutic approaches to treating them, particularly Mindfulness-Based Narrative Therapy (MBNT). It is important because ACEs have become a global crisis, with the potential for interfering with psychological and physical development, early mortality, and other harmful life outcomes. This thesis provides critical information for mindfulness teachers and practitioners, therapists, educators, regulators, parents, and individuals subjected to ACEs.

This study provides a theoretical framework suggesting that nonviolent communication (NVC) can alleviate the violence frequently experienced in the inner dialogue of women with Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Due to the high correlation between ADHD symptoms in women and elevated rates of anxiety, depression, engagement in self-harm, and internalized self-criticism, exploring methods to mitigate negative self-dialogue is essential. Research on NVC indicates that individuals can cultivate empathy and compassion in interpersonal communication, suggesting potential benefits for addressing challenges in intrapersonal communications that often stem from the internalized presentation of ADHD symptoms in women. Bulk nitrogen is depleted in solar system objects, including the terrestrial planets, chondritic meteorites, and comets. Recently, it was suggested that cometary nitrogen may be locked up in ammonium salts—ionic solids comprising ammonia (NH₃) and an acid such as hydrogen cyanide (HCN)—based on Rosetta/ROSINA data from comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimanko. Among the proposed salts to have been found in 67P were ammonium cyanide (NH₄CN) and ammonium cyanate (NH₄OCN), which were inferred from identifying HCN, cyanamide (NH₂CN), and isocyanic acid (HNCO) in the mass spectrometry data collected in the coma of 67P. In this article, the local dynamics of a discrete-time Covid-19 pandemic model based on the Lotka Volterra model with topological classifications, bifurcation analysis and chaos control are investigated. It is shown that under some parametric conditions, the discrete-time Covid-19 pandemic model has two equilibrium points. With linear stability theory, local dynamics are investigated with topological classifications about the equilibrium points of the discrete-time Covid-19 epidemic model. In addition, the existence of a Neimark-Sacker bifurcation at the internal equilibrium point is proved and this bifurcation is analysed using explicit criteria. This article illuminates the significance of aesthetics, architecture, and political struggles by turning to concrete historical examples of socialist urbanism and city planning. In addition to drawing out architecture as a prime exemplar of political art, I find it a useful model for pedagogical politics. More specifically, these examples illustrate the inherently political nature of all education and of Paulo Freire’s utopian pedagogy. Although some mischaracterize Freire’s conception of the educational relationship as one of absolute equality, Freire always maintained the teacher can start as a learner but can never stay a learner. Background/Objectives: Children and teenagers display a distinct metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) phenotype, yet studies of childhood MASH are scarce and validated animal models lacking, limiting the development of treatments. Poor vitamin C (VitC) status may affect MASH progression and often co-occurs with high-fat diets and related metabolic imbalances. As ocean crust traverses away from spreading ridges, low-temperature hydrothermal minerals fill cracks to form veins, transforming the physical and chemical properties of ocean crust whilst also modifying the composition of seawater. Vein width and frequency observations compiled from the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) South Atlantic Transect (∼31°S) and previous scientific ocean drilling holes show that vein width distributions progressively broaden and observed strain (Σm_veins/m_core) increases with crustal age, whereas vein densities (#_veins/m_core) remain approximately constant. Quantitative reasoning (QR) is a key skill for undergraduate biology education. Despite this, many students struggle with QR. Here, we use the theoretical framework of student noticing to investigate why some students struggle with QR in introductory biology labs. Under this framework, what students notice when given new information and data influences how they process this information and connect it with other events to form new conceptions. Students must mentally isolate given features, create mental records of those features, and identify features or objects that they connect to existing knowledge. Central nervous system neuroblastoma with forkhead box R2 (FOXR2) activation (NB-FOXR2) is a high-grade tumor of the brain hemispheres and a newly identified molecular entity. Tumors express dual neuronal and glial markers, leading to frequent misdiagnoses, and limited information exists on the role of FOXR2 in their genesis. To identify their cellular origins, we profiled the transcriptomes of NB-FOXR2 tumors at the bulk and single-cell levels and integrated these profiles with large single-cell references of the normal brain. The impact of social determinants of health (SDOH) on mental health is increasingly realized. A comprehensive study examining the associations of SDOH with mental health disorders has yet to be accomplished. This study evaluated the associations between five domains of SDOH and the SDOH summary score and mental health disorders in the United States.

Background/Objectives: Cirrhosis is the precursor to most cases of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Understanding the mechanisms leading to the transition from cirrhosis to HCC and identifying key biomarkers is crucial to developing effective screening strategies and reducing HCC-related mortality. DNA methylation is associated with gene inactivation and plays an important role in physiological and pathological processes; however, its role in cirrhosis progression to HCC is unknown.

Cytokine-mediated inflammation is increasingly recognized for playing a vital role in the pathophysiology of a wide range of brain disorders, including neurodegenerative, psychiatric, and neurodevelopmental problems. Pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 (IL-1), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) cause neuroinflammation, alter brain function, and accelerate disease development. Despite progress in understanding these pathways, effective medicines targeting brain inflammation are still limited. Traditional anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory drugs are effective in peripheral inflammatory illnesses.
