The Metaphysical & Epistemological Theories Of C.S. Lewis, Richard Ryals Nov 1984

The Metaphysical & Epistemological Theories Of C.S. Lewis, Richard Ryals

He then attempts to offer an alternative philosophy which can serve as an adequate basis for our reasoning and ethics.

Lewis sees three basic metaphysical possibilities: naturalism, dualism, and theism. Naturalism views the natural process as the ultimate reality. Everything that exists is either a part of or a product of this process. Dualism asserts that there are two …

Winona Campus Life, Mass Communication Department

Winona Campus Life

Winona Campus Life was a weekly laboratory newspaper produced by the WSU Mass Communciation Department students and printed as a supplement to the Sunday Winona Daily News, which began in September 1983. The newspaper provided coverage of the four institutions of higher education in Winona: Winona State University, St. Mary's University, College of Saint Teresa, and Winona Area Vocational-Technical School. It was created to provide a place for Mass Communcation students to publish their articles and photographs with the idea of generating reader feedback, which is essential in journalism education.

On The Shoulders Of Giants: The Progress Of Science In The Seventeenth Century, Erich M. Harth Oct 1984

On The Shoulders Of Giants: The Progress Of Science In The Seventeenth Century, Erich M. Harth

The Courier

This article gives a brief synopsis of the scientific advancements made during the seventeenth century, the literature of which can partly be found at Syracuse University Special Collections. The author argues that the progenitors of the new scientific thought such as Galileo were not at odds with the mysticism and occultism of the past, and in fact still embraced certain parts of that Middle Ages past.

Catalogue Of Seventeenth-Century Books In Science Held By The George Arents Research Library, Eileen Snyder

They draw from three main collections: the Muckenhoupt Collection, the Wolff-Leavenworth Collection, and the Leopold von Ranke library. The books are written by scientific pioneers such as Copernicus, Newton, Benjamin Franklin, and many others.
