The Vanguard (Vol. 31, No. 1), Feb 1984, Lutheran Human Relations Association Of America

The Vanguard

Irreparable damage was inflicted on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights during a bitter and protracted debate spanning much of 1983. The past year has seen the loss of an independent civil rights 'watchdog' that has served the nation welt for over 25 years. The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights was created by President Eisenhower in 1957 for the express purpose of investigating and monitoring in an objective manner the civil rights policies of the federal government. Under this responsibility it monitors the performance of federal …

Winona Campus Life, Mass Communication Department

Winona Campus Life

Winona Campus Life was a weekly laboratory newspaper produced by the WSU Mass Communciation Department students and printed as a supplement to the Sunday Winona Daily News, which began in September 1983. The newspaper provided coverage of the four institutions of higher education in Winona: Winona State University, St. Mary's University, College of Saint Teresa, and Winona Area Vocational-Technical School. It was created to provide a place for Mass Communcation students to publish their articles and photographs with the idea of generating reader feedback, which is essential in journalism education.
