Tradition And Reason In The Roman Sacraments, Wilfred Janke
Tradition And Reason In The Roman Sacraments, Wilfred Janke
Bachelor of Divinity
The supernatural truth was revealed to man through the Word of God. To this the Roman Catholic Church adds the unwritten tradition committed to the Church. Both Protestants and Catholics agree that it is not enough that God should give His revelation to man, but that gift must be kept pure and unalloyed and entire, otherwise it would be valueless. God, therefore, must both provide the sacred source of truth and keep it clean and uncontaminated. So far the two bodies are agreed.

Liberialism In Contrast To The Biblical Faith, William Grunow
Liberialism In Contrast To The Biblical Faith, William Grunow
Bachelor of Divinity
This paper is a study of the doctrines of Liberalism. By being thoroughly familiar with these doctrines, the student will not be misled by the sheep’s clothing of orthodox phraseology which Liberalists often employ.

The Prophets And Political And Social Problems, Theodore Laetsch
The Prophets And Political And Social Problems, Theodore Laetsch
Concordia Theological Monthly
Any one that even casually reads the prophetic books of the Old Testament will see at once that the prophets took a very active interest in the social problems of their day and pointed out a way to their solution. The question is whether what they say on these problems still applies to conditions in the twentieth century, 2,500 and more years later than these prophets lived. A categorical denial of the applicability of Old Testament prophecy to our present-day conditions would come into conflict with such clear Scripture-passages as Rom.15: 4 and 2 Tim. 3: 16. On the other …

Defects Of Preaching, J. H. Fritz
Defects Of Preaching, J. H. Fritz
Concordia Theological Monthly
At the present time there is no little complaint about poor preaching, and whether we like it or not, we must admit that much poor preaching is heard from Lutheran pulpits also: sermons that are shallow in reference to their Biblical content, sermons that do not supply the needs of the people, sermons poorly constructed, sermons not well delivered. When people sit through a sermon Sunday after Sunday, they ought to be strengthened in their faith, warned against sin, especially the sins of their time, encouraged to lead a Christian life, comforted in their troubles, advanced in Christian knowledge. But …
