The Reformation In Norway: A Historical-Bibliographical Survey, Jack Preus

Master of Divinity Thesis

The purpose of this study is to explore a few of the many questions that could be raised concerning the advent of the Reformation to Norway. When did the Lutheran Church of Norway begin? How did it come into being? Where did it begin? Where did it flourish first? How did Norway become a truly “Lutheran" country? Who were the heros or the antiheros of the Reformation in Norway? Where can one go to find out more about the Church of Norway? This study attempts to answer some of these questions.

The Educational Philosophy Of N.F.S. Grundtvig A Century Of Influence: A Case Study Of A Lutheran Congregation, Omaha, Nebraska, Ruth Thorup Herman

The Bridge

When the editor of The Bridge asked if I would write my reaction to my dissertation, I did a great deal of thinking. How would I write about my feelings which covered the four years during which I did the research and writing of this paper? I concluded that a historical review would give me the best opportunity to present my reaction to my research. Then, when he asked me to review my own study since it related my experiences, I concluded that both could be incorporated in one effort if I were permitted to make personal references.

The Inflation Of An Overdone Business: Economic Origins Of San Francisco Vigilantes, Robert M. Senkewicz Oct 1979

The Inflation Of An Overdone Business: Economic Origins Of San Francisco Vigilantes, Robert M. Senkewicz

History

Although most Americans would probably spontaneously associate the word --vigilante·· with the wild west, cattle theives, range wars, and the like. the largest vigilante movement in American history was urban in location and commercial in character. In San Francisco in the summer of 1856, six thousand vigilantes, led by the city's mercantile upper crust, established a de facto government. Claiming that crime was too often unpunished and politics too often corrupt, the importers and wholesale merchants of San Francisco organized a private police force which hanged four men and forced another thirty or so to leave the city. (Contemporary San …

A Hermeneutical Model Based On The First Epistle Of John, Patrick Vance

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

The purpose of this senior project is to give the present student an opportunity to synthesize three years of seminary-level training in the area of hermeneutics, with an eye to its operation in the pastoral setting. The model endorses three stages of preparation study thought by the student to be essential to a quality pulpit ministry. The stages are history, exegesis and theology. Each stage is contained within a major chapter which endeavors to …

American Perceptions Of Chinese Communism 1945-1950, Edward C. O'Dowd

History Theses & Dissertations

This thesis explores the images of the Chinese Communists which were held by career Foreign Service Officers in China, non-career diplomats in China and the decision-making elite in Washington during the period of time from 1945 to 1950. The study centers on the questions of the tractability of the Chinese Communists to negotiations and the connection of the Chinese Communists to the Soviets. The study uses several propositions of social psychology to explain the differing images and the resulting effect on Sino-American relations.

The purpose of this paper is to study the political and legal implications of the shooting of a Union officer, 2nd Lieutenant Alanson C.
