Tenebrionidae Beetles Of The Nevada Test Site, Vasco M. Tanner, Willis A. Packham
Brigham Young University Science Bulletin, Biological Series
The intent of this study conducted over a period of three years was to ( 1 ) provide descriptions of the species of tenebrionids found at the Nevada Test Site, (2) determine their relative abundance, (3) determine their seasonal activity, and (4) ascertain their plant community relationships.
A total of 14,650 beetles representing 46 kinds of tenebrionids was collected with sunken can traps, by hand, and ultra-violet light. Collections were made at regular intervals in the following plant communities: Larrea-Franseria, Lycium, Atriplex-Kochia, Grayia-Lycium (disturbed and undisturbed areas), Salsola, Coleogyne, Pinyon-Juniper, and Mixed.
The data obtained from this study indicate that …

Experimental Studies On Habitat Preference And Thermoregulation Of Bufo Americanus, B. Hemiophrys And B. Cognatus, John R. Tester, A. Parker, Donald B. Siniff
Journal of the Minnesota Academy of Science
This paper reports on responses lo habitat and thermoregulotion exhibited by three species of toads, Bufo omericanus, B. hemiophrys and 8. cognalus, under artificial conditions. The response of the toads to sparse, medium, and dense vegetative cover was investigated by establishing artificial cover types in a sheet-metal enclosure. Each of the three species spent more time in the dense cover than i11 sparse or medium cover. A second experiment to determine if the toads would be attracted by odor to samples of mud, water, and vegetation from their respective ranges suggested that the toads moved randomly to the habitat samples. …

Kill And Migration Patterns Of The Seney Goose Flock, Glen A. Sherwood
United States Fish and Wildlife Service: Publications
An intensive investigation into the limiting factors and behavior of the Seney Canada goose (Branta canadensis maxima -- Hanson, 1965) flock was conducted from June, 1962 to August, 1965. A portion of the study findings, concerning kill and migration patterns, is reported here.
The 95,500 acre Seney National Wildlife Refuge is situated in the east-central sector of Michigan's upper peninsula, in the southwest quadrant of land formed by the junction of state highways M-77 and M-28. It is composed of four broad habitat types of which approximately 400 acres are cropland, 26,900 acres upland brush and timber, 61, 000 …

Sheep Can Be More Profitable In The Wheatbelt, G T. Halpin, P. Nelson
Sheep Can Be More Profitable In The Wheatbelt, G T. Halpin, P. Nelson
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
TRADITIONALLY, wheatbelt farmers have looked upon sheep as being subsidiary, or at best, complementary to their main activity, wheat growing.
Because there has been a mistaken belief that clover would not grow, these farmers have depended upon native grasses and crop remains (stubble) for sheep feed, a practice which has put a limit to the number of sheep a property could support.

How To Identify Twin-Born Lambs, G T. Halpin, P. Nelson
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
IN the past few years it has become widely accepted that the ability to produce twin or multiple lambs is a heritable characteristic.
This means that breeding from sheep born as twins should give more multiple births and higher lambing percentages than breeding from sheep born as single lambs.
