Counseling Exceptional Students, Anthony F. Rotatori, Paul J. Gerber, Freddie W. Litton, Robert A. Fox 2015 Marquette University

Counseling Exceptional Students, Anthony F. Rotatori, Paul J. Gerber, Freddie W. Litton, Robert A. Fox

Robert Fox

This book was designed by its authors to convey the disability-specific information necessary for counseling efforts to support the mainstreamed exceptional child. Successful counseling with exceptional children calls for background on such issues as etiology, definition, prevalence, and characteristics. Moreover, knowledge of counseling problems as viewed by children, their parents, and teachers is necessary to provide balance to the ecological perspectives needed to counsel the "whole child." The authors also have included within the discussion of each chapter successful counseling findings related in the literature. This in no way precludes other approaches or modalities of counseling, but it does provide …

Intersections Of Critical Systems Thinking And Community Based Participatory Research In Developing A Web Site For Autistic Adults, Dora Madeline Raymaker

Dissertations and Theses

People with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum, comprise the world's largest minority and experience significant inequities in Internet use. Existing standards for accessible web sites are necessary but not sufficient without the direct engagement of end users in identifying access needs. Yet little is known about methods for effective engagement, and there are no systematically derived Web accessibility guidelines for autistic end users. Here I explore a hybrid approach to direct engagement using critical systems thinking (CST) and community based participatory research (CBPR) during the co-development of a healthcare-focused web site by the Academic Autism Spectrum Partnership in …

Creating A Comprehensive Search Strategy For Research On Learning Disabilities Using The Pearl Harvesting Information Retrieval Framework, Salsabel Almanssori

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

The migration of libraries to the digital realm has created new opportunities for information sharing; however, the abundance of available literature has made locating relevant research studies on specific learning disabilities a difficult task, one that existing search strategies have not adequately addressed. Moreover, definitions of specific learning disabilities have evolved and the nature of this field is interdisciplinary, creating a confusion of possible search terms for the topic. The present investigation used the Pearl Harvesting Information Retrieval Framework to create a comprehensive search strategy for locating research on learning disabilities. The analysis produced four groups of harvested search terms …

The Cards of Life, when all hope is gone; trust then believe forces educators to view students differently. Innovative Research Publications IRP India

This paper presents the research on optimization of plunge centerless grinding process when grind 20X – carbon infiltration steel (ГOCT standard - Russia) to achieve minimum of roundness error value. The input parameters are center height angle of the workpiece (  ), longitudinal grinding wheel dressing feed-rate ( Ssd ), plunge feed-rate ( k S ) and control wheel velocity ( dd v ). Using the result of 29 runs in Central Composite Design matrix to given the second order roundness error model. Genetic algorithm and Response surface method were used to focus on determination of optimum centerless grinding …

A survey created on the six principles of IDEA was used with administrators (principals and assistant principals) who serve approximately 42,000 students at 50 public schools. Analysis of data revealed that Hypothesis 1, which projected that 51% or more administrators would perceive their knowledge of special education law as average or better, was supported. Hypothesis 2, …

Kylie Hillman

A key message from the most recent OECD PISA report released by ACER in December 2013 is that high-performing countries tend to allocate resources more equitably across socioeconomically advantaged and disadvantaged schools. This issue of Snapshots looks to the data from the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) and the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS), to examine whether this is the case for Australia.
