This article summarizes a research study done from April 2020 until April 2021 to examine the challenges, response, and tactics, of entrepreneurs in rural southern Virginia. In particular, the research goes into depth of how the COVID-19 pandemic effected operations, how entrepreneurs responded, and what measures they took to stay viable. Finally, the article proposes a framework for rapid response in the case of future pandemics, natural disasters, or economic events that cause similar disruptions.

While extensive implications have been made in the literature about the advantages or disadvantages of family-owned businesses compared to non-family-owned businesses, the focus of this study was to show how small to medium-sized family-owned firms (FF SMEs) based in the United States can use their unique history to create a competitive advantage. It happens even more in hectic departments like Emergency Department and Intense Care Unit. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) in China is unique worldwide in requiring disclosure of the timing, participants, and selected content of private in-house meetings between firm managers and outsider investors. We investigate whether these private meetings benefit hosting firms and their major outside institutional investors—blockholder mutual funds (i.e., funds with ownership ≥5%). Using a large data set of SZSE firms, we find that blockholder mutual funds have more access to private in-house meetings, and top management is more likely to be present, especially when a meeting is associated with negative news. The Effect Of Syntax Simplicity On Crowdfunding Performance, Yuanqing Li, Sibin Wu, Wencang Zhou

Using elaboration of likelihood model, this study examines how syntactic structure (structural and lexical simplicity) and nonverbal cues (smiling and professional attire) interact to influence crowdfunding performance. By studying 209 crowdfunding projects, we show that both structural simplicity and lexical simplicity are positively related to crowdfunding performance. Further, professional attire strengthens the simplicity and performance relationship. However, smiling shows mixed effects.

The supply chain’s adoption of data collection technologies as part of digital transformation and movements of industry 4.0 creates a strong foundation for artificial intelligence analytics. Artificial intelligence has three branches sensing and interacting, decision-making, and learning. Each branch uses its algorithms and serves a different purpose for the business.
