The article focuses on a conversation between dancer Valentina Desideri and professor Stefano Harney during the Spring Seminars of the Performance Art Forum (PAF) in Saint Erme, France. Harney suggests that fate work may be considered as a potential practice on the way work determines one's life. Desideri says that one can shape and construct his future through work under capitalism.

Spaces, Emotion And Heavy Metal Subcultural Control: Music Consumption And Civilising Processes., Gary Sinclair

Despite the longevity, cultural relevance and global popularity of heavy metal, it has been noticeably absent from both the Birmingham School‟s subcultural studies, the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies (CCCS) and in consumer community contexts informed by post-subcultural perspectives (e.g., neo-tribes). This study examines the Irish heavy metal scene. The literature review considers the problematic aspects of applying both frameworks (subcultural and post-subcultural) to heavy metal and other similar contexts. I argue that Norbert Elias‟s figurational sociology (relatively underutilised in previous consumer research), can be used to bypass the agency–structure dualism that impedes both approaches. Since 1998, Perth bands have had a strong presence within the Australian music scene. Primarily, each year between 1998 and 2009, songs by indie pop/rock acts from Perth have charted within national broadcaster triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown. Many of the albums from which these songs have been taken have sold in excess of 35,000 copies, and a number of successful and recognised Perth bands have toured with the nation’s largest music festival, the Big Day Out as well as their own high profile national tours. This investigation addresses limitations associated with previous research to determine empirically the value of winning or being nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award on an film's weekly box office grosses. in addition, this study delves into yet unstudied territory by measuring how an Academy Award affects the careers of actors and actresses nominated for or awarded the Best Actor and Actress trophies for the first time. Overall, results suggest that both nominations and wins in the Best Picture category increase weekly box office grosses following their respective announcements.
