This plan proposes new park classifications for THPRD, adding new types of park and recreation facilities appropriate to station communities and adjusting existing classifications to address the needs of a more urban environment. This plan also presents service criteria and design issues that should be considered in siting park and recreation facilities, and elements that should be incorporated into site design. The classifications, service criteria, and design elements were applied to the 170th/Elmonica station area, resulting in a conceptual park and recreation plan for that community, which is also included. The purpose of this study was to assist the town of Holden in assessing further development potential along a 1.6 mile stretch of Main Street. Holden’s History is similar to many small New England towns, as it has evolved into a suburb in the post WWII period. The socioeconomic analysis shows a growing community where a large proportion of the residents are professionals and financially well off. There is a strong sense of community and the citizens are concerned about the future of their town.
