Youth arrests peaked in the nineties, began to decline sharply before rebounding in 2006, and dropped again in 2008. FBI crime data show a considerable drop in violent youth crimes between 2010 and 2011, with arrests for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter dropping 20 percent in one year. Violent crime arrest rates in 2011 were 30 percent lower than in 2008.
