On 18 May 2009, the Director of Liquor Licensing announced that alcohol restrictions would be instigated in Halls Creek for an indefinite period (see Appendix 1). These restrictions amounted to a prohibition on the takeaway sale of full-strength alcohol1 exceeding a concentration of ethanol and liquor of 2.7% at 20oC to all but liquor merchants. The Licensee of the Kimberley Hotel was also prohibited from selling and supplying liquor for consumption on the premises before 12:00 midday on any day except when it is sold ancillary to a meal or to a lodger.
