This poster emerged from Hui Shi's research paper titled “Social support for palliative family caregivers: A literature review.” The paper and poster were assignments in the course Introduction to Applied Research in Social Services (Year 1, Semester 2) in the Social Service Worker Gerontology program. This poster was presented during the final week of the school term at an in-class research conference with the presence of all class members, the professor of the course, one other professor of the field practicum course, and the Associate Dean of School of Community Studies.

This issue explores early psychosis intervention services. Throughout history psychosis has traumatized and permanently disrupted people's lives, but early psychosis intervention is showing that much of this trauma and disability can be prevented. Early psychosis intervention services are rapidly becoming available in every state of the US, and thousands of people who have lived through psychosis are speaking out and proving that we have every reason for hope.

The Perception Of Children In Chile: Burden Or Joy?, Christine W. Black, Renata Forste

Globally, family values and behaviors have been shifting. This can be seen through a decrease in the universality of marriage, increased individualism, higher prevalence of divorce, older age at marriage and low birthrates with an increase in planned and controlled fertility. In Latin America, and specifically in Chile, these types of changes have been the most drastic. Data come from the ISSP where about 1,500 Chilean participants were asked a series of questions regarding family and gender attitudes as well as multiple demographic questions. This study looked at how these attitudes contributed to the perceived burden or joy of children. …
