Violence against women and religious participation are two phenomena that are pervasive across many African American communities. African American women experience intimate partner violence (IPV) at a rate higher than the majority of racial groups in the U.S. Although many African American women highly depend on their faith and church to navigate their experiences with IPV, scant attention has been given to the role that Black clergy have in responding to IPV against women. The formal hypothesis for this research was: Social factors are related to domestic violence among Hmong adults. A total of 43 Hmong male and female adults were drawn from the community of St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN. The age of respondents ranged from 18 to 60 years old. The purpose of this study was to explore campus violence from the perspective of the campus staff members who work with directly with domestic violence victims. Current research that focuses on the experiences that campus staff members have in working with student domestic violence victims is limited. A qualitative approach using exploratory and inductive research was used to analyze seven interviews from campus staff who had personal experience working with student domestic violence victims. Research into the social phenomena of domestic violence is a relatively new area of exploration. The focus for domestic violence researchers has been across a broad range of topics with a key theme being the reasons that women stay or leave the relationship. The study described in this thesis engaged with women in discussions regarding their perception of their relationship when there had been experiences of domestic violence. The methodology included the use of a focus group with three women from the South West of Western Australia.

The ability of survivors of domestic violence to secure employment once they leave their vulnerable situations has been identified in the existing knowledge base as a significant issue, and one that urgently needed to be addressed. This qualitative applied social policy research study was undertaken to derive recommendations that could improve the current state of employment services available to women who had survived domestic violence residing in the Region of Waterloo.
