With the prevalence of child abuse and neglect in our nation and around the world, the theories of why these types of maltreatment occur are a relevant topic for all to explore. Researchers are interested in how child abuse and neglect affect the individuals who were victims as well as the use and efficacy of treatment procedures. In this project, significant research is examined, detailing the various models of abuse and neglect and how the models are perpetuated through development, as a result of exposure to various environments or social relationships.
