While the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the once marginalized conversation of academia’s gendered imbalance of opportunity, discussion of its impact on graduate student mothers has remained absent. Resilience has been cited as key to overcoming in the pandemic era with little discussion of how its conceptualization continues to marginalize females in the academy. Our phenomenological study explores graduate student mothers’ conceptualizations of balance, failure, success, and resilience using a family resilience framework which acknowledges the multiple identities to which they may avow and contexts in which they may operate. A significantly high number of employed women work in vulnerable work environment. Waitresses’ working in the hospitality sector experience different kind of work-related abuse. This study aims to explore waitresses work related abuse and its coping mechanisms in the hospitality sector in Bahirdar city, Ethiopia. A descriptive phenomenological study was conducted to describe the lived experience of waitresses in the work environment. Data were collected through an in-depth interview with waitresses. La participación de las mujeres en los escenarios enfrenta a dos graves obstáculos: su tradicional confinamiento a la vida doméstica y la definición de la Mujer en singular, que no admite la comprensión de la diversidad y la pluralidad. Una de las consecuencias de estos obstáculos, es la minimización de la participación de las mujeres en los espacios públicos, además, el afán del sistema patriarcal para mantener a las mujeres individualizadas.
