The research aims to find the levels and types of defense mechanisms used by students of the University of Kufa , and the degree of difference in the types of defense mechanisms attributed to the variables of gender and academic specialization . A sample of ( 190 ) male and female students was randomly selected , (95) students from two faculties of the scientific specialization (Pharmacy and Engineering) and (95) students from two faculties of humanities(College of Jurisprudence and College of Administration and Economics) and distributed equally between males and females .
