Fiske, Cuddy, Glick, and Xu’s (2002) stereotype content model (SCM) has emerged as one of the most influential models of person perception in contemporary scholarship, and the organizational literature has begun to use this model for diversity management (Lyons et al., 2016; Martinez, White, Shapiro, & Hebl, 2016). The most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) provides clinicians with a new personality assessment tool, the Personality Inventory for DSM-5. It is one of a number of assessments provided for use “in research and evaluation as potentially useful tools to enhance clinical decision-making…” The PID-5 does not contain validity scales to assist clinicians in assessing personality and making diagnostic decisions.
