This workshop will identify participants' dominant personality styles utilizing the True Colors questionnaire developed by Don Lowry in 1978. To that end, there will be a discussion on each color's communication and leadership strengths, weaknesses, and stressors. This is a fun activity that requires movement and most people enjoy. Finally, participants will be paired up with rotating partners and given a departmental chair scenario wherein they need to communicate and lead by utilizing what they have learned about dealing with the personality types of the colors. Drug use is an important problem that causes many social, mental, and physical problems to millions of individuals worldwide. Research is often conducted to analyze the effects of gender and rearing conditions on drug abuse, as well as to investigate the neurobiological basis behind drug use. In this study, groups of rats of different gender and rearing condition were put into amphetamine self-administration testing chambers for six hours at a time to see what differences there were in infusions, lever responses, and timeout responses. Masculine honor ideology contends that aggression is sometimes appropriate, justifiable, and even necessary, especially when used in the protection of others. What has yet to be studied is how masculine honor beliefs are taught to individuals. Accordingly, we created a program of research to examine how masculine honor beliefs relate to the way individuals want to socialize their children. Humor is a major part of our interactions with other people. Despite humor’s simple purpose to amuse, there are several cognitive processes at work when trying to understand it. When looking at disparaging humor, prejudiced norm theory suggests disparaging humor creates an atmosphere where prejudice is deemed more acceptable, which then leads to more tolerance for discrimination. Our research examined people’s perceptions of intersectional (i.e., relating to racial and gender) stereotype-based humor using starter pack memes. On November 25, 1970, the prolific Japanese author and right-wing nationalist Yukio Mishima performed ritual suicide. His demonstration disturbed the literary, political, and intellectual world of Japan and has had far-reaching implications for the world. In this analysis, I offer a brief biographical sketch of Mishima’s life and how he became one with his philosophy, politics, and literature. My ultimate aim is to show how the hyper-“modernization” and westernization of Japan parallels many of the same conflicts Western Civilization is currently facing with the collapse of both modernity and tradition.
