Substance use disorders (SUD) have a great impact on individual, social, and economic resources in the United States. In 2018, 19.3 million individuals – 7.8% of the population – aged 18 or older met criteria for SUD. There is a persistent gap in treatment needs for individuals with SUD and no single treatment approach is appropriate for everyone. Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) utilize the mind-body connection to attend to the various needs of individuals with SUD.
