An Inquiry Into Personality Development: A Theory Of Symbiotic Relationship, Kenneth William Chittick

Graduate Thesis Collection

This thesis presents an inquiry into personality development, that is, it advances a theory of personality formation based on the symbiotic relationship between mother and child. It will show indications from the research of Rappoport, Ottinger and Simmons, and the writings of Mahler, that in the relationship between the infant and its mother, the infant at first thinks that the mother is an actual part of its own wholeness. Therefore, the theory will attempt to explain how a normal, a neurotic or a psychotic personality structure of later years can be traced back to the symbiotic phase of the infant's …

The Psychology Of Religious Edification As Applied To Children, Hazel Alta Oliver Jan 1948

The Psychology Of Religious Edification As Applied To Children, Hazel Alta Oliver

Graduate Thesis Collection

This dissertation is important for all Christians and especially for teachers in Bible School. It is not a theological study aiming to tell how to prepare souls for a world to come,-- though it does that incidentally, nor in that it adopts its premises from revelation. But it is theological insofar as it unifies all of religious education in one objective, purpose, goal or ideal. It is philosophical in the same sense, that it unifies all of religious education in one objective. It aims to simplify all the efforts of religious education which we here call edification of the saints, …

The Pauline Concept Of The New Man, Clarence William Franz Jun 1942

The Pauline Concept Of The New Man, Clarence William Franz

Graduate Thesis Collection

This thesis is to be primarily a character analysis. Naturally that will eliminate considerations that might be easily included. As far as possible a strenuous effort will be made to avoid detailed discussions about theological issues that inescapably belong to such a study as this. In a character analysis we must be concerned principally with individuality in persons. By that we mean to treat all those features and characteristions which distinguish the new man from the old. Those theological factors having to do primarily with the state of man in his relation to God will only be touched upon. It …
