Historically, women have been excluded from leadership positions around the world, while instead men occupy the highest positions of power in society. The lack of female leadership is especially prevalent in the United States, where there has never been a female president, and the majority of high political offices are still held by men. In a similar manner, women have also been excluded from the sphere of comedy throughout history. Women have constantly had to deal with the assertion that women are not funny. The global hegemon, the United States encompasses roughly 57,000 to 63,000 of the roughly 45.8 million slaves present across the world today (Walk Free Foundation 2016a). This dissertation research uses the theoretical lens of Human Security as a unique approach in that it is people-centered, focusing on the individual, rather than the more traditional theories in international relations that emphasize the state as the central actor. At the time that this thesis is printed, we are reminded of the tumultuous relationship between North Korea and the United States every day. If we follow the mainstream news regularly, it seems like we are on a steady path to war. Ultimately, this paper is centered around the question: what is the best foreign policy strategy for both countries to achieve respective goals, without descending into armed conflict? Factors That Influence Mexican Emigration To The United States: The Role Of Economics, Education Quality, Crime, And Violence, Kristina Aiad-Toss

This study explores the factors that influence Mexican emigration to the United States. By determining the relationship between emigration and different economic, social, and demographic variables, this paper seeks to determine the relative importance of factors that drive Mexicans to leave their country. This paper looks at the following emigration push and pull factors: home-country economic conditions, employment opportunities, education quality, crime, drug-cartel related violence, social ties in the U.S., gender, age, and income. Using a nationwide survey opinion data from 2015, the perceptions of Mexican individuals support the hypotheses that social ties, home-country education quality, gender, and age are …
