The Peronist Paradigm: The Impact Of Peronist Traditions On The Economic Recovery Of Argentina In The Wake Of Covid-19, Jay Park

Senior Theses and Projects

First elected to the presidency in 1946, Juan Domingo Perón has remained one of the most seminal – yet controversial – figures in the history of Latin America. His rise to power brought about not just a new era in Argentine political history, but also resulted in the emergence of one of the longest lasting political movements in the world: Peronismo, or Peronism. Since its inception, it has been the salient driving force within the realm of Argentine politics for the better part of seven decades; indeed, since 1946, the Peronists have won 10 of the 13 presidential elections …

Nation-Building And Cultural Heritage: A Study Of Turkey And Its Greek Orthodox Community, Sophia E. Kyrou

Senior Theses and Projects

This thesis is an exploration of the intersection between nationalist ideology and cultural heritage policy. This thesis answers how and why states utilize cultural heritage policy to build exclusivist forms of nationalism and, more specifically, models of nationalism that exclude ethno-religious minorities. I answer the case-specific question: How and why has the Turkish state utilized policy dealing with tangible and …

Airpower As A Part Of American Foreign Policy: The Importance Of Military Strategy, Domenic J. Quade Mr.

Senior Theses and Projects

Airpower has a seductive nature to it. Technology promises to be able to destroy or seriously damage an enemy military’s capabilities without serious risk to American forces. Moreover, these knights of the sky have an aura of power with the ability to destroy important pieces of military equipment or infrastructure. Airpower may seem like a niche topic of international relations or American foreign policy, but it represents the opening move of war. Gaining air superiority is the first step in any American engagement as it allows the rest of American military might to be brought to bear. It is also …

L’Impatto Dell’Isis Sulle Politiche Interne Italiane, Michael Richard Battista Jr. Apr 2016

L’Impatto Dell’Isis Sulle Politiche Interne Italiane, Michael Richard Battista Jr.

Senior Theses and Projects

I have researched how Italian domestic policies has been impacted by ISIS in recent years, in particular through the lenses of the threat of terrorism, and the refugee crisis. Recent examples include the terrorist attacks in neighboring France and Belgium, and the multilateral agreement to relocate refugees to Turkey. My two hypotheses based on my research are that the threat of terrorism has caused Italian domestic policies to become more conservative, such as attempted bans on religious iconography like the hijab, while the refugee crisis has actually caused resultant policies to become more liberal, such as the ambitious humanitarian program …
