The relationship between the archival concept of the record requires examination and analysis in a social media context. If there is a desire to systematically collect and preserve accounts of daily life, archival theory must account for changing information systems, both the tools and the practices through which we engage them. At the same time system designers need to draw upon contemporary archival theory.
