Can Gpt-3 Tools Accurately Find And Analyze Articles For Systematic Reviews? A (Very) Preliminary Assessment, Gary S. Atwood

Introduction: GPT-3 is a large language model that uses artificial intelligence to generate textual responses to prompts and questions. GPT-3 technology has been used to create several interesting tools including the widely reported chatbot ChatGPT-3, which was released in November 2022. Inspired by the initial success of GPT-3, several organizations have started to build tools designed to assist with tasks associated with the systematic review research process. This project will analyze how successful these tools are in completing two specific tasks: searching for research articles and analyzing individual articles.

During the 2020-2021 academic year, our organization undertook a strategic effort to improve our diversity, equity, and inclusion practices with the goal of creating a more diverse organization. Paramount in this effort was the development of a set of best practices to be used by our institution to ensure that our hiring practices promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. This poster will detail the processes we undertook to fundamentally rethink hiring and share best practices that we developed so that other institutions can apply these same principles.

Patent searching is an important research tool for undergraduate engineering students, yet it requires special topic knowledge to conduct successfully. Patent database websites have the ability to alleviate or add to the complexity of patent searching, depending on their usability. Prompted by the launch of the US Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Public Search (PPS) website in early 2022, the authors investigated the usability of PPS and Google Patents. The study's objective was to gain insights into the ways in which the websites of commonly-used patent databases support undergraduate students’ patent searching activities.
