Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The study examined the research data management and related services offered by South Asian countries' academic libraries. Research applied quantitative approach and survey research design method were used for this study. The survey questionnaire was distributed randomly to academic library professionals in five countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The sample population comprised 67 library professionals from various institutes of five countries. The study’s findings revealed that 83.6% of institute libraries provide research data management services to their users. The study recommends that institutes or funding organizations support staff to attend conferences and workshops on research data management, …

It has been observed that there are no standard scales for measuring the job satisfaction of female library professionals. A scale would prove to be an excellent tool for developing policies for female library professionals. A questionnaire is prepared, which is further tested for reliability and validity, considered a standard scale. A survey method is used to collect the data for this purpose. The study suggests that job satisfaction variables are not unidirectional in their effect. The job itself can be a source of both satisfaction and dissatisfaction. This study sought to investigate the institutional support employed for collection development practices in Private University Libraries in South-West Nigeria. This study adopted the qualitative research design. The population comprised 57 key informants made up of heads of the libraries and acquisition librarians from 31 Private University libraries. The total enumeration technique was used for the study. A Key Informant Interview was the instrument used for data collection. Data were analyzed using content analysis. When Utah’s three law libraries closed their doors in March 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, legal practitioners, researchers, and self-represented litigants lost access to the superseded Utah Code Annotated (UCA), which existed only in print form at these three libraries. Access to the UCA was restored in early 2021 through an LSTA grant-funded project that digitized UCA volumes and pocket parts from 1943-1995 and disseminated these materials via an open access Digital Commons collection.

This research used qualitative methods with a case study approach conducted in three high school libraries in Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data collection techniques consist of in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies. Architecture collections have been a mainstay for Special Collections and Archives at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV SCA), since the late 1970s. Until 2017, most architecture collections in Special Collections and Archives have consisted of physical records. In recent years, curators began acquiring architecture collections with significant born-digital content, which present unique challenges different from other types of born-digital materials. This case study discusses how staff adapted existing workflows for born-digital materials to process and describe two collections comprised of born-digital architecture and design records. The W.T. Carter and Brother Lumber Company began in 1898 and operated until 1968 when it was sold to the U.S. Plywood Corporation. The Polk County, Texas company harvested longleaf pine during a crucial period of development for the Texas economy. The lumber industry was the state’s first large scale commercial enterprise not dependent on farming and provided a model for future extractive industries in the state. The W.T. Carter and Brother Lumber Company town of Camden, Texas exemplifies rural implementations of the company town system in the Texas lumber industry. College libraries are integral part of higher education institutions and they play an important role in raising the standard of education. The study was conducted at Sri JCBM College, Sringeri to assess users’ awareness and utilization of library resources and services. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire and personal visits to the said college library. Convenience sampling technique was used to collect the data. Purpose- The study formulates clusters of Library and Information (LIS) discipline books from Acharya Raghuveer Library, Central University of Himachal Pradesh. Cluster formulation aims to identify the utilization rate of books. Furthermore, the study attempts to find the direction for collection management and developing related services for the users in the library.

Design/methodology/approach- Books circulation data set is obtained, formatted and made compatible for further analysis. The Euclidean distance formula is used to find the distance between two points on a plane. Afterwards, the K-means clustering algorithm is implemented to generate the required clusters.
