Interest in integrative health care is a growing area of health practice, combining conventional medical treatments with safe and effective complementary and alternative medicine. These modalities relate to both improving physical and psychological well-being, and enhancing conventional talk therapy. In an interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching and library faculty have created a series of sixteen on-line video interviews that introduce practitioner-relevant experiences to students as supplemental course material. These videos are available through the department web-pages to students in other related disciplines as well, including Social Work, Counselor Education, Psychology, and the Colleges of Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine. Western Libraries (The University of Western Ontario) has recently developed a digital bookplate program. We create a digital bookplate in Fireworks (a graphics design program) using a set of standard templates. Then we link a web page with information about the bookplate to a search, which displays all of the material purchased for that donation in the catalogue. The donor is provided with the web-link and can view the bookplate and the catalogue records for the material that was purchased or donated.

This history deals with the life and times of members of the Organ family who settled in the Illawarra region in 1839. The account is based on official government records and newspaper accounts. Unlike other such histories no core of personal memorabilia including letters, documents or artifacts survives, upon which a more personal account can be constructed. Some personal reminiscences dictated by members of the family in the 1920s and '30s have been used, however they are sketchy and were only used to indicate a line of research. The mechanisms of personalization deployed by news websites are resulting in an increasing number of editorial decisions being taken by computer algorithms—many of which are under the control of external companies—and by end users. Despite its prevalence, personalization has yet to be addressed fully by the journalism studies literature (Zelizer, 2009). This study defines personalization as a distinct form of interactivity and classifies its explicit and implicit forms. Using this taxonomy, it surveys the use of personalization at eleven national news websites in the UK and US. For more than a decade, the University of South Florida Library's Oral History Program has sought to develop cost-effective, open-source solutions to improve workflow management, increase public access, and preserve oral history collections. Recently, it established two open-source solutions to meet these goals. Bull-OH-Base enables Oral History Program staff to manage its many oral history projects and associated data in a secure and efficient manner. OHPi (its oral history player interface) offers researchers the ability to access and search its collections through a web-based application that synchronizes audio and video files with a full-text transcript. The University of South Florida Tampa Library received and digitized original materials created by refugee children depicting the atrocities of genocide in Darfur. The development of a performance piece inspired by these materials to promote the Library’s resources and initiatives was proposed; thus, the project What the Heart Remembers: The Women and Children of Darfur was born. This presentation focused on digital image management, technology related to the visual arts, faculty outreach, and collaboration within disciplines such as the Library, Theatre and Dance.

LibGuides have captured the attention of the American academic library world. Subject guides like LibGuides are intended to provide access to resources for disciplines or courses to supplement library instruction provided during one-shot sessions or at the reference desk. LibGuides are available to users when and where they are needed. A constant refrain in the literature on subject guides is the workload inherent in their creation and maintenance.
