Why is it so hard to find digital humanities projects? While digital humanities librarians emphasize their crucial role in producing DH work as partners in developing, sustaining, and preserving digital resources, scant attention is paid to the library’s role in resource description and discovery, their contribution to disciplinary formation that goes beyond technology stacks and campus service models. This primer was created as part of the "Specialized Data Curation" Workshop #3 held at Washington University in St. Louis, MO on November 5-6, 2019. Exploring SAS application and how researchers generated, stored, and shared their SAS data sets, this work summarized the key features of SAS data and explained how to curate SAS data in institutional data repositories. This primer can be used as a manual for research data curators or librarians to document SAS data for the purpose of data preservation and sharing.

This article addresses challenges inherent in collaborative archival projects involving both large institutions and small historical societies. It identifies these unique problems and outlines potential solutions to overcome these issues. Examples are drawn from the Portal to American Jewish History project and contextualized within the professional literature on ethnic or community archives and archival collaboration. This project collected metadata from a wide range of Jewish history archives and aggregated the records in a single searchable website.

This article presents the history and development of cataloging codes, an overview of the Resource Description and Access (RDA) training courses, the author’s experiences in library teaching and learning, cultural exchanges with the Chinese librarians at the National Central Library (NCL), international librarianship in cataloging, library technology and development in Taiwan as well as the National Central Library and the Library Association of China (LAC), and key findings of RDA in its development and transition, implementation, and implications.

This article explores three tools that synchronize sound and text for online oral history collections: the Oral History Metadata Synchronizer (OHMS), the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI), and YouTube. A detailed description and examples are given for each. Integrating audio/video recordings and transcripts enables searching and browsing, making oral histories more accessible and approachable.
