Open access repositories have given universities an exciting new opportunity to manage and publish their own ETDs. At the same time, new challenges have emerged such as objections to open access and new more complicated workflows. Meghan Banach, Metadata Catalog Librarian at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, has coordinated the library side of ETD management for the past 4 years. She oversees the management of about 500 theses and dissertations per year.
