This paper presents the findings of a study on readiness of the University of Zambia in participating in research data management services in the COVID-19 and post Covid eras. The study adopted a qualitative research method and employed purposive sampling. In-depth interviews were conducted with key informants in the University. Findings reveal a lack of awareness and knowledge about research data management among senior officers and inadequate skills among library staff. Open access plays a significant role in expanding access by enabling scholars more equitable participation in research and development activities globally. However, little is known about researchers’ awareness and adoption of open access at the University of Zambia. To address this gap, this study investigated open access scholarly communication practices at Zambia’s premier University. Introduction: The choice of open access (OA) or non-open access (non-OA) publishing model is a serious concern and challenge for authors and journals. This study investigated awareness of Institutional Repositories (IRs) amongst students of the Department of Library and Information Science, the Federal Polytechnic Offa. Descriptive survey research design was adopted; one hundred and fifty (150) students, which constituted the sample for the study, were selected using simple random sampling technique. The present study aims to explore the currents trends of open access e-books available through the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) in the subject field of Islam. The DOAB was selected as a source for data collection during July 2020. The findings reveal that 263 e-books are available on Islam, which contributes only (0.94 percent) of the total share of e-books (27,697) available in DOAB. The results reveal that the maximum number of e-books is available on Religion (111), History (42), Sociology (34), and Political Science (27). The objective of this study is to report the quantitative analysis of open access (OA) journals in economics discipline covered in DOAJ. This article reports 287 economic journals indexed in DOAJ, which reveals the growth rate of journals in economics subject plunged to 87.11% since 2013, and 78.75% journals do not levy any APCs. Further, the results indicated cent percent peer-review process followed by all journals to ensure the quality and validity of its publications. The present study is a bibliometric analysis of 328 articles from 11 volumes published in International Journal of Digital Curation published by University of Edinburgh, U.K from 2006-2017. The study is based on three basic objectives in terms of yearly distribution of articles, authorship pattern and degree of collaboration in the journal. Data collection is done from DOAJ. The result revealed that year 2009 was the most fruitful year with 46 articles, Single authorship showing highest contribution and extent of collaboration recorded is considerable with a overall value of 0.69.

The present study aims to identify the status of Open Access Repositories (OARs) in the field of Ecology and Environment. The data was collected from the Directory of Open Access Repositories (OpenDOAR). Data collected was analysed on different parameters such as geographical distribution, software usage, content type, repository type and language diversity. As of now OpenDOAR holds 176 repositories in the field of Ecology and Environment. The findings further reveal that the maximum number of repositories belong to the USA accounting for 18(10.2%). Also, the maximum number of repositories are institutional accounting for 134(76%).

Paper highlights the current state of open access repositories (OARs) movement in Agricultural field of Asian countries. It describes their characteristics in terms of types, contents, disciplines, languages covered, technical and operational issues, and policy matters. Compares and evaluates repositories against selected parameters and makes some recommendations for the growth of agricultural repositories Worldwide. Also presents a unified interface that can harvest metadata from different OAI-PMH compliant agricultural repositories Worldwide.
