The purpose of this proposal is to identify the need for establishing an Institutional Repository at Marshall University to facilitate the collection, preservation, and dissemination of the intellectual output of the students, faculty, and administrative offices of the University.

Institutional Repositories (IRs) provide a digital ‘storehouse’ for academic institutions to house a wide variety of scholarly material created by students, faculty, and administrators. They also provide a readily accessible depository for selected archival material, video and still images, current news and events, procedural and policy guidelines, and other information that benefits the university community and other users, including the public. …

After decades of living under oppressive dictatorships, the people of the Arab world are rising up against their countries' leadership. For over nine months now, we have been witnessing massive, large scale, and peaceful demonstrations spreading all over the Arab Middle Eastern countries. These mass civic demonstrations have been given many names, including the Arab Spring, Arab uprising, turmoil, tumult, chaos, Arab awakening, Arab revolution, revolt, etc. It is a reform movement on the march that was first started in Tunisia, which moved to Egypt, and then swept across the region to include Yemen, Bahrain, Libya and Syria.
