In the fall of 1992, Mary E. Allcorn-Grigsby, Director of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library, negotiated a gift of underground newspapers and alternative press publications from the University of Missouri, Columbia. This collection occupies 36 archival storage boxes comprising approximately 45 cubic feet and includes 2,712 single issues, with some duplicate copies, representing over 70 titles. All issues fall within the inclusive dates from 1965 to 1978, with the bulk of the material representing the period from 1968 to 1972.
