Conducting copyright clearance and ingesting appropriate versions of faculty publications can be a labor intensive and time consuming process. At Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a medium-size, private institution, the Digital Library Program (DLP) began exploring and experimenting with automated processes to manage copyright clearance and ingest workflows with regards to faculty publications. The goal of such experimentation was to increase efficiency in our processes to ingest more faculty publications in LMU's institutional repository. Over the last decade institutional repositories (IR) have become an integral part of the academic library environment across the United States and the globe. In 2015 the Hilton M. Briggs Library at South Dakota State University (SDSU) became the first South Dakota university or college to launch an IR. Open PRAIRIE (Public Research Access Institutional Repository and Information Exchange) began operations on September 25. 2015.
