The Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Oceanographic Campus Library has always had a unique challenge in that it is the final clearinghouse for student capstone, thesis, and dissertation binding and publication. The library has traditionally been the host of the final print publication and the liaison between the student, university program office, and the bindery. With the launch of NSUWorks, NSU’s institutional repository, 7 years ago, the library worked to develop an innovative and effective start to finish workflow for student Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) to change the physical lifecycle of NSU’s theses and dissertations into a virtual ETD lifecycle. …

Background: The Emerging Technologies Internship program aims to provide 12th grade high school students an opportunity to explore, use and develop unique applications of 3D printing/scanning, virtual reality, and digital devices. The interns work closely with library staff on student and faculty projects, but are also challenged to develop individual projects that can positively impact health sciences and medical education.

This presentation focuses on institutional stakeholders’ perspectives of OER adoption and integration at a state college in east Florida. This session will provide recommendations for an institutional adoption of OERs at Nova Southeastern University and demonstrate how NSU’s librarians and library resources can be leveraged to ensure a successful OER implementation. This session will also discuss the ways in which librarian advocacy helps in the OER adoption process and how building relationships with librarians may help drive a wide-scale OER implementation.

Creating an Institutional Repository from scratch creates a multitude of both opportunities and pitfalls in establishment of workflow, content creation, outreach and marketing policies, and stakeholder support. Nova Southeastern University’s Digital Commons based repository, NSUWorks, completed its first year in February 2015. During this session, the triumphs and tribulations of the first year will be discussed, along with future plans in order to give attendees a glimpse into one particular IR experience. Archival collection digitization, outreach/marketing, journal/book publishing, reporting tools, and collection development will also be covered.

This article describes the collaborative effort between academic reference and Public Library Services (PLS) in developing and sustaining a resume resources program at a joint-use library. The resume resources workshops are a part of the summer workshop series, Adult Computer Camp, organized by the PLS department at the Alvin Sherman Library (ASL) of Nova Southeastern University (NSU). The summer workshop series offers an innovative variety of workshops to the public featuring online and computer resources. These workshops have been a successful collaboration between these two departments at the ASL, a joint-use or “town and gown” library

Background: :In order to serve the many member libraries who were faced with the loss of space and the subsequent need to downsize and discard print collections in a very short time, the NN/LM SE/A formed a task force on print retention in the spring of 2010. This group carried on online discussions and met twice between the Spring of 2010 and The Spring of 2011. “If you build it, they will come” (Frankish & Robinson, 1989) was a powerful motivation for transforming an Iowa cornfield into a baseball diamond, but does it apply to librarians when faced with purchasing new information resources? What happens if you buy it and no one comes? This is precisely the dilemma many libraries face when purchasing new resources. Librarians painstakingly select the best resources for their users, despite overcoming budget constraints, only to have the usage statistics show that these resources are continually underutilized.
