Crude Oil Prices Forecasting: Time Series Vs. Svr Models, Xin James He
Crude Oil Prices Forecasting: Time Series Vs. Svr Models, Xin James He
Journal of International Technology and Information Management
This research explores the weekly crude oil price data from U.S. Energy Information Administration over the time period 2009 - 2017 to test the forecasting accuracy by comparing time series models such as simple exponential smoothing (SES), moving average (MA), and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) against machine learning support vector regression (SVR) models. The main purpose of this research is to determine which model provides the best forecasting results for crude oil prices in light of the importance of crude oil price forecasting and its implications to the economy. While SVR is often considered the best forecasting model in …

A Tribal Special Library And Archives Project: Establishing The Malki Museum Special Library And Archives, Andrea Geyer
Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations
The Malki Museum Tribal Special Library and Archives project is an on-site repository created in order to provide access to information regarding tribal culture and heritage to local tribal members and researchers. The project filled the need for a space dedicated to material related to the history of local Southern California Native American tribes and information regarding the topics of Archaeology, Anthropology and History. The collection includes: books, manuscripts, documents, audio/visual media, and photographs. Bringing together multimedia sources, the Special Tribal Library allows for the preservation and accessibility of these items through cataloging and digitizing the collection. This method allows …

Preservation Of Library Resources In Nigeria Universities: A Study Of Collections In Cross River State Universities, Akin-Fakorede Oluwaseun, Eno J. Ottong, Ubong J. Ottong
Communications of the IIMA
Preservation is the appropriate housing, protection, care and maintenance of archives, records and manuscripts. It should be taken seriously in order to preserve the cultural, social and technical context of our heritage. This study investigates the preservation of library resources in Nigerian universities via a study of collections in Cross River State universities. Through descriptive survey research design, the study adopts Ruskin’s theory of preservation (Ruskin, 1989) with an emphasis on the seven lamps of architecture. The application of the theory is used to assess the form of the resources, understand the preservation problems encountered in the libraries and determine …

Of Primary Importance: Applying The New Literacy Guidelines, Janet Hauck, Marc Robinson
History Faculty Publications
Written by a librarian and a history professor, this article describes a primary source literacy project for students. In addition, this essay reports the project’s effectiveness in teaching undergraduates to analyze information and develop primary source literacy. The methodology employed included a research project with 24 undergraduates, along with a pre- and post-survey. The research project and student survey incorporated principles from the Guidelines for Primary Source Literacy, published in 2017 by the ACRL’s Rare Books & Manuscripts Section and the Society of American Archivists. The article offers research and practical implications for librarians and instructors interested in strategies to …

Assessing Learning Outcomes Of A Mooc Incorporated Into An On-Campus Management Information Systems Class, Manying Qiu, Yaquan Xu
Assessing Learning Outcomes Of A Mooc Incorporated Into An On-Campus Management Information Systems Class, Manying Qiu, Yaquan Xu
Journal of International Technology and Information Management
Massive open source online course (MOOC) platform enables enterprises to introduce their new innovations and deliver basic knowledge to handle the new products. We incorporated an openSAP course into a management information systems (MIS) class. Students learned the latest development of SAP customer relationship management (CRM) solutions along with the SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) business processes integration that they learned in the classroom. 46.2% of the students obtained Record of Achievement and Confirmation of Participation certificates, which is higher than the average success rate of MOOCs. More importantly, the students experienced a way of sustainable and lifelong learning.
