Equity work and open educational resources may seem like an obvious pairing, but how much do we as OER advocates connect these dots and articulate this relationship? The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) was one of five U.S. institutions to receive a grant to pilot the Equity Through OER Rubric. Members (36 higher education systems in the U.S. and Canada) of the Driving OER Sustainability for Student Success (DOERS3) created the rubric to help define, unpack, and explain the multiple dimensions of equity and foreground the role of OER in closing equity gaps. Presented at FIU Online’s Affordability Counts Workshop on March 3, 2019. FIU Librarians Christopher M. Jimenez and Ramces L. Marsilli present the library as a cost-effective alternative to textbooks. The librarians demonstrate ways to locate resources in both the catalog and in databases. They also demonstrate ways to embed content into canvas through permalinks and LTI's. Finally, the librarians announce OER options that are available to the faculty.

At Grand Valley State University, the Libraries and several campus partners--including campus IT and offices that support faculty research and effective teaching--have come together to provide support for the creation and adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) on our campus.  But rather than developing brand new programs or asking for additional resources right at the start, we realized that each of our units already offers services that could support faculty creating and using OER.  Through our OER Initiative, we’ve begun coordinating our efforts to promote these services and build relationships with each other and with faculty allies interested in doing …
