In 2011, the Seattle Pacific University Library established a new service area for students called the Tech Desk. Initially conceived as a place where students could get help with and access to technologies needed for academic work, this program quickly became an incubator for ideas and innovations around meeting students’ technological needs. In 2014, we surveyed our largely “millennial” undergraduate population to assess the program and explore ways of enhancing it. Asked to launch a faculty writing circle, our Center joined faculty to shape its mission and give members a “safe space,” a “source of accountability” (Nole, Hart, Soled, 2010), and writing support. We will report on milestones, resulting publications and presentations, library collaboration, and university wide writing initiatives showing the circle's evolution into a community of practice and how it has “harnessed the multiplier effects of collaborative processes...building upon informal networks within entities” (Nagy & Burch, 2009). This poster describes an outreach exhibit program utilizing a media wall digital signage system in the 24/7 study space at The Center for Science and Social Science Information, Yale University. The mission of the exhibit program is to showcase,using media wall technology, the work of Yale faculty, research, academic units, and outreach programs. The Center is a newly renovated collaborative library, a merge of the Kline Science Library, the Social Science Library, and the StatLab campus computing facility that opened in January 2012.

Triple Bottom Line Accounting (TBLA) refers to a method of measuring the economic, environmental, and community service impacts of an organization rather than the traditional practice of measuring just the financial bottom line. This chapter explores TBLA from a historical point-of-view; offers examples in higher education and discusses the implications for academic libraries. It concludes with ideas for the implementation of TBLA in libraries.
