In recent years, the interest of practitioners and managers in social networking applications and social knowledge-sharing has increased. While these platforms allow individuals to collaborate, form/maintain social ties, and share/receive knowledge and expertise, and share/receive knowledge/expertise, they also provide a unique collaborative environment for organizations, enabling leaders to promote communication and collaboration among employee silos, engage them with others, and promote corporate core values once adopted internally.

Successful One-to-One Computing Initiative implementation requires educators to communicate and collaborate effectively with everyone in the learning community. However, other factors such as teacher’s professional development, student’s perception, and parent’s perception often affect the implementation of the One-to-One Computing Initiative. School districts, which serve low-income areas in Mississippi, have difficulties ensuring students and communities have access to the information technology they need to participate outside the school setting. Some software business leaders lack strategies for implementing servitization (Software-as-a-Service, or SaaS) initiatives, which has the potential for adverse business outcomes. Software business leaders are concerned with implementing service initiatives to remain competitive and foster sustainability. Grounded in the resource-based view theory, the purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to explore strategies business leaders in the software industry use for implementing servitization SaaS initiatives. The data were collected using interviews with eight leaders from four software firms who successfully implemented servitization initiatives within at least the past 20 years.
