In 2014 Nova Southeastern University celebrated its 50th. In conjunction with the anniversary, the NSU Libraries determined a need to preserve the past, present and future of the university by creating a campus wide repository for all scholarship, creative work, and historical materials produced by the university. NSUWorks is a part of the NSU Libraries’ contribution to the university’s ongoing growth and success as an internationally recognized research institution. NSUWorks was launched at the Dean’s Meeting on November 2014, and reached its one year anniversary at the end of February 2015. The NSUWorks Annual Report covers the period …

Grace Yang (Class of 2000) and Dr. Christian Nøkkentved standing in front of the special exhibit “IMSA and the Wide, Wide World” at an alumni/ae reunion. Since its very beginning there have been connections between the people of IMSA and the world. Those connections have ranged from informal to formal, from individual to group experiences of students, teachers and staff, from presentations at international conferences to exchange programs, and there have been visits of government and institutional officials. Given the increasing attention to managing, publishing, and preserving research datasets as scholarly assets, what competencies in working with research data will graduate students in STEM disciplines need to be successful in their fields? And what role can librarians play in helping students attain these competencies? In addressing these questions, this book articulates a new area of opportunity for librarians and other information professionals, developing educational programs that introduce graduate students to the knowledge and skills needed to work with research data. Thinking Outside The (Archival) Box: Innovative Uses Of Jules Henry’S Field Notes, Miranda Rectenwald
University Libraries Presentations
This poster presents a case study of how archived documents provide multi-faceted, dynamic opportunity for teaching and learning in both academia and indigenous communities. Anthropologist Jules Henry compiled extensive language and cultural field notes in the 1930s while living among the Xokleng Laklãnõ (Brazil) and Pilaga (Argentina) communities. Until recently, these documents and photographs archived at Washington University in St. Louis were seldom used. However, by starting a collaborative digital project with Unicamp State University (São Paulo, Brazil) a number of innovative uses have emerged.
