Master's Projects and Capstones
While developing leadership roles for employers is critical to running an effective organization, building a bridge for those who have directly lived experiences regarding its mission is critical. Bringing back community members you have served to your organization is highly recommended and essential. This capstone research report will focus on building a leadership pipeline for formerly incarcerated individuals within the nonprofit sector. Returning community members can often be tokenized and are never given the tools and resources to develop as a leader. This report will outline the barriers formerly incarcerated individuals face while providing a foundation on the importance of …

The Professional Struggles Of Contemporary Korean Women: Origins And Consequences Of The Glass Ceiling, Liat Miller
Master's Projects and Capstones
The status of women globally, though improved in recent decades, remains an unresolved issue. The labor market, in which women must contend with the glass ceiling phenomenon, is an indicative microcosmos of a larger issue—the persistence of discriminatory attitudes toward women. The case is even more profound in East Asian contexts, such as South Korea. The existing literature is limited and focuses on either specific aspects of the glass ceiling or particular industries in Korea. This paper explores the origins and interconnected causes of the glass ceiling in Korea, which include Confucian philosophy and values. Moreover, by analyzing testimonials of …

Master's Projects and Capstones
Problem: According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), an estimated 700,000 to 1,000,000 inpatient falls occur in the United States every year. Context: In an August 2017 observation of bed alarm activations in patients’ rooms, it was noted that there was no designated staff member to answer alarms. This causes a delayed response time, which can result in patient falls. The root cause involved unclear expectations regarding what staff members are responsible for answering alarms. Interventions: Standard work was created to have the closest available person respond to the patient’s bed alarm. Initial implementation began in the …
