Common Core standards are coming in South Carolina. Two years ago Spartanburg District Two decided to take the lead by creating a new, mandatory 9th grade Human Geography course and using it to advance the Common Core. Several of the teachers in this course turned to the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation’s High Impact Fellows program at Wofford College for help in meeting this challenge. Public schools in the entire state of South Carolina have set the goal is to fully implement the Common Core standards in the 2014‐15 academic year.
