Jurnal Geografi Lingkungan Tropik (Journal of Geography of Tropical Environments)

According to the World Bank's Climate Change Knowledge Portal in 2020, the increase in annual temperature in Indonesia, which tends to rise by 0.3°C, is consistent with the Urban Heat phenomenon. Population growth and shifting land cover contribute to annual temperature fluctuations by reducing the amount of vegetated land. The increase in temperature in the urban environment has particular impacts on the community in terms of environmental changes. The term "Urban Heat Signature" refers to land cover in a localized urban environment with natural consequences due to solar radiation and high-low temperature values. This study was conducted in Pamoyanan Village, …

This paper utilizes Institutional Analysis and Development (IAD) framework provided by Ratner by conducting a multi-case comparative specifying on the sub-national in Kachin (Myanmar) and Papua (Indonesia). The analysis focuses on how the institutional dynamics relate to collective action in the mining operation during the ongoing conflict. The empirical investigation shows that the different results occurred due to the diverse decentralization arrangement. The case in Kachin indicates some degree of difficulties in the decentralization arrangement. This condition raises the lack of transparency …

Power-Sharing As The Key Of Secessionist Conflict Resolution In Developing Democratic Countries, Wasisto Raharjo Jati

Jurnal Politik

This article explains how power-sharing could determine conflict resolution in develo¬ping states, particularly in developing countries. This scheme offers a win-win solution between state actors and the separatist movements to curb conflict and initiate pe¬ace-building at the grassroots level. Using a quantitative analysis that employed data¬sets from Power-Sharing Event Dataset (PSED) and Implementation of Pacts Dataset (IMPACT), this article notably reveals two important findings. First, the most promising power-sharing schemes are territorial and political power-sharing. Furthermore, the preliminary talk about ideal power-sharing consensus between the state actors and rebel groups is important to determine the outcome of power-sharing policies. Finally, …

Cleavages And Electoral Support To Islamist Party In Javan Urban Areas: The Case Of Prosperous Justice Party, Andi Rahman Alamsyah

Masyarakat: Jurnal Sosiologi

Several studies have noted that electoral support for one of the Islamist parties in Indonesia, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), is mostly concentrated in urban areas. While I agree with this observation, I found that these studies did not pay adequate attention to the diversity of socio-political conditions in urban areas that contributed to the varying electoral support for PKS. One of these socio-political conditions is what Lipset and Rokkan (1967) conceptualized as cleavages (divisions of society). Based on the results of 2014 and 2019 local parliamentary elections in Javan urban areas, I argue that there are three cleavage patterns …

However, this article argues that tourism gentrification shows a different dynamic, namely driving the significance of tourism growth that supports overtourism. This article focuses on the reason why Balinese do not feel that the phenomenon of gentrification and the development of protests are a part of the symptom of overtourism. Research …

The effectiveness of rational method and Soil-Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) method are compared by testing their performance in estimating water availability in the Upper Cisadane river basin in West Java, Indonesia. The results shows that calibrated SCS-CN model performs better than Rational model with R2 and NSE of 0,62 and 0,37. Result of model validation yields …

Russia has a culture of communal living that already existed far before the Soviet era. In the soviet regime, communal living was seen as an instrument to reach Soviet’s utopian objective.
