At the request of Brookfield Residential, SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted an intensive cultural resources survey for the proposed realignment of Farm-to-Market Road (FM) 1625 in southeast Austin, Travis County, Texas. Portions of the project area are located within road right-of-way (ROW) owned by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), a political subdivision of the State of Texas. As such, the proposed undertaking is subject to review under the Antiquities Code of Texas. Archaeological field investigations required a Texas Antiquities Permit issued by the Texas Historical Commission. On behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted an intensive archeological survey on February 23, 2018, of a potential bridge replacement consisting of approximately 1.5 acres of existing right-of-way (ROW) along Boyce Lane over Harris Branch in Travis County, Texas. Because the project will receive funding from the Federal Highways Administration, it qualifies as an undertaking as defined in Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 800.16(y) and, therefore, the work was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (54 U.S. Code 306108). On June 12, 2018, archeologists from aci consulting conducted a cultural resources survey for the proposed Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) overhead line (OHL) rebuild in Travis County, Texas. The Area of Potential Effect for this project consists of the 50-foot Right-of-Way (ROW) for the proposed rebuild of the 5.31-mile overhead electric power supply alignment, for a total of 32.17 acres (13.02 hectares).

This report documents the findings of an archeological survey of TxDOT's proposed Campus Consolidation project in Austin, Travis County, Texas. On September 5-7 and 11 Ama Terra surveyed a 49-acre parcel proposed for TxDOT's new administrative campus. The survey consisted of transect pedestrian inspection. 54 shovel tests and 8 backhoe trenches. The survey documented one prehistoric site. 41TV1284, which is a previously recorded site. The boundary for this site was redrawn as not eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places or as a State Antiquities Landmark. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD) has contracted HDR Engineering, Inc. (HDR) to conduct an intensive archaeological survey of the project area for the proposed improvements to the entrance to the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge located on Ranch-to-Market (RM) Road 1431 in Travis County, Texas (Figure 1-1). The survey was initiated due to the inadvertent discovery of a possible burned rock midden site within the project area during vegetation clearing. In April of 2018, on behalf of the City of Austin (COA), Hicks & Company conducted an intensive archeological survey of 2.87 acres for the Buttermilk Creek Stormwater Control Measures Project located in east Austin, Travis County, Texas (Figure 1). The proposed project will entail the modification of the creek channel for a distance of approximately 1,000 feet from just east of Bethune Avenue to just east of Blessing Avenue. Proposed impacts will likely include a concrete weir structure with riser pipe for extended detention and localization bank stabilization measures of stacked boulders and planted soil lifts.
