On March 15, 2018, TxDOT conducted an intensive archeological survey for the proposed to FM 186 roadway improvement project. The project consists of a minor road widening This proposed project would widen FM 186 from two 12-ft. wide travel lanes with 2-ft. wide shoulders to two 12-ft. wide travel lanes with 4-ft. wide shoulders for approximately 8.8 miles along FM 186 from Castellaw Road to the FM 186 terminus in Dimmit County, Texas. On June 27, 2017, TxDOT conducted an intensive archeological survey for the proposed bridge replacement at FM 108 at Sandies Creek in Gonzales County, Texas. This proposed project would replace the existing 25 –foot-wide bridge with an approximately 45 foot-wide bridge. The total area of potential effects (APE) for the two bridge replacements is approximately 3.7 acres. No new ROW or easements are proposed for the project. Although the schematic design plans show only fill being added to the existing ground surface of the roadway approaches, depth of impact for the support pilings is estimated at approximately 50 feet.

(Horizon) conducted an intensive cultural resources survey of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) jurisdictional areas within Chesapeake Energy Corporation’s (Chesapeake) proposed San Lorenzo Creek bridge right-of-way (ROW) in southwestern Dimmit County, Texas (Project Area). Although the Project Area will be located entirely on private property and will be developed with private funds, its construction will require the usage of a Nationwide Permit (NWP) issued by the USACE. In an effort to aid United States Border Patrol efforts to combat smuggling and illegal immigration in south Texas, road improvements have been proposed along the U.S.-Mexico international border in three south Texas counties by Joint Task Force Six (JTF-6). JTF-6 Operation Number JT513/515/425-98 consists of a single action in Webb, Maverick, and Dimmit counties, Texas. In early 1983, an archaeological crew from the Center for Archaeological Research, The University of Texas at San Antonio, conducted a survey and testing program at site 41 OM 65 on the Valenzuela Ranch in Dimmit County, Texas. The results of the field work, analysis of artifacts recovered during restoration of a stone house on the site, and archival research in Dimmit, Webb, and Bexar Counties are reported. Conclusions are drawn as to the ranch's original and subsequent ownership, the approximate date of construction of the house, and its various uses through the years.
